Our Staff
-
Mitchell Connell (He/Him) - CEO
Mitchell started riding bikes as a way to ride to his friends’ houses. Once he started commuting (and kept breaking his old bike) he started sweeping the floor at his local bike shop to try to convince the staff to teach him how to wrench.
Since then, Mitchell has dedicated his life to using the bike as a tool for social change and as a fun way to hangout with friends. Mitchell really likes touring, randonneuring, and commuting, and he’s always trying to remember to drink more water. Mitchell is a founding member of Two Bikes. -
Annmarie Groves (She/Her) - Executive Director
Annmarie grew up racing BMX in a small town in West Georgia. She moved to the area in 2012 to attend the University of Tennessee, and while she had drifted away from bikes for a little while, Knoxville quickly became home and reignited her passion for two wheels. You can now find her mountain biking, gravel riding, or spinning on country roads around the area.
When she’s not at the shop or out on a ride, Annmarie is probably being a homebody: reading a book, hanging out with her dog (Alvin), or re-watching Gilmore Girls for the millionth time.
-
Matt Zingg (He/Him) - Operations Director
Matthew Zingg is the Operations Director for Two Bikes. He manages the retail side of the nonprofit and makes sure the shop is stocked with rad bikes. Matt enjoys bike commuting and touring, and although he appreciates the competitive side of cycling, he primarily sees riding bikes as a fun, healthy way to build relationships and explore our world. If you want to talk about vintage bike parts or hang out and listen to second-wave emo, Matt’s your guy. Matt is a founding member of the Two Bikes team.
-
Tanh Cao (He/Him) - Bike School Instructor
Tanh loves so many things. Bikes are high on the list but he also loves trying new food, being outdoors and connecting with people. He found a passion for fixing bikes because he said it reminds him of solving his favorite puzzle. He loves solving a problem and loves the endless possibilities of how you can improve or fix a bicycle.
He also loves being a youth group mentor/chaperone. He had such a positive experience from his mentors when he was in a youth group that he couldn’t wait to become one as an adult. He loves helping kids find their strengths, talents and gifts and encouraging them to find ways to use them.
-
Liam Foran - Development Coordinator & Bike School Admin
Liam has been cycling since he was very young. At just 2 years old he had a gnarly tricycle crash outside his childhood home in Indianapolis and lost his two front teeth. But don’t worry, they grew back and Liam grew to love bikes. He found his way to Knoxville and is now proud to call the scruffy city home. He has years of experience as a bike commuter and (believe it or not) a competitive cyclist, but mostly just thinks bikes are a cool way to have fun and get places.
Liam loves to talk about travel, movies, and soccer. If he's not behind the register at the shop, he might be out for a walk around the downtown area.
